Lance Browne
Lance Browne was previously CEO, then Chairman and now Vice-Chairman of Standard Chartered Bank in China, where he has lived since 1979, working in engineering and finance. He is also a Non-Executive Director and Chairman of the China Advisory Board of IMI plc, China Advisor to the City of London, Chairman of China Goldmines plc, Advisory Board Director of G3 (Good Governance Group) and Advisor to D1 Oils plc.
Lance is a Director of both the China Britain Business Council and the Taiwan Britain Business Council, Vice Chairman of the 48 Group Club, Chairman of Dulwich College Schools in China and a Board member of the British Inter-University China Centre. Past voluntary work in China includes Chairman of the British Chambers of Commerce in both Shanghai and Beijing, Chief Representative of the 48 Group and Chairman of the Foreign Bankers Association.
Lance is an Honorary Citizen of Shanghai and was appointed CBE for his work in China. Lance attended universities in Britain, France and China and speaks those languages.
